April

Thought I'd blog every week this year. I was wrong. My sister is Engaged. My baby can sit up unassisted. And rollover. And giggle. A lot. I have Queen stuck in my head. Is it just me or do the songs Killer Queen and If I Only Had a Brain sound like they were made for each other? I learned today that as much as I like crumbled Gorgonzola cheese romantically dispersed on my salad it's fairly gross in bulk. John got an internship at LucasFilm in San Francisco. That means we will be spending the summer in colorful California. It will be a long and luxurious vacation. I already packed Spencer's clothes. A week ago. I am beyond exited. It will be the best time; we're going to see family family family and play games and visit national parks and parks with swings and slides and stuff. Then my sister will get married, John will be best friends with George Lucas, the kids will know some of their cousins, and we'll have a summer full of memories! Maybe John will even know wha...
I don't know how many of you have full-size tractors parked on the street outside your house. Those of you who do know what a treat this is. Although we don't have one here, the next street over is blessed. There are those in our neighborhood who have driven by to see us standing, staring in reverence. Today Thomas brought his broom and we traversed a wee bit of the sidewalk, sweeping, checking out tractors and bleating in the general direction of the sheep. As usual, I enumerated various reasons why Thomas cannot ride the tractor today. Or tomorrow. When we left he said, "Bye tractor, I wuv you. I wanna kiss the tractor." Because of the way people get twitterpated in the Spring, it is wedding season time and we had the honor of attending a sealing in Salt Lake. We had never been in the Salt Lake temple before and it was a special experience to me to be where my parents and both sets of grandparents were married. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

Cereal Kick

This morning Thomas came into my room to talk to me and have me help him with his train while I was still "sleeping." He opened the book of Mormon on my nightstand and when I asked him to put it back he said, "I wanna read it." He then opened it up and said, "And it came to pass dik a dik a dika Jesus. The end." Well I finally "woke up" and got us both breakfast. Thomas chose Chex and so I went along with him. When I put our bowls in the sink there were three cereal bowls before it. Knowing there are only 3 of us eating solid foods in our household you may find this interesting. This is the second morning in a row Thomas has gotten up with John and had cereal, and then had cereal with me an hour later. The fifth bowl was my "midnight" snack. Mmmm. Thomas also said the prayer for breakfast this morning all by himself with lots of dis dis dis dis dis' in between sentences. I couldn't understand what he was saying, and ju...

Grandpa

Today I drove down to central Utah and spent the day with family for my Grandpa's funeral. It was a beautiful day, with flowers, humorous stories, and friendly faces. Finally I am beginning to remember some of my Mom's cousins names and faces, as well as some of her Aunts and Uncles. I've decided that I like funerals because of the opportunity to share and learn more about the deceased person's whole life. The stories, experiences, and jokes that were shared helped me to appreciate the loving faithful man my Grandpa was and is and to remember and believe that he lives in Heaven and continues to live beyond this life.

New Year's Resolutions

So . . . as I was rinsing split peas I began to feel the weight of the impossible resolution to read a book each week for 2010. Actually just to read 52 books by December 31st. As John said, sounds like a busy month for you. Then I remembered that I revised it to 24 books for 2010 and I felt much better.
