Christmas

We had a beautiful white Christmas, thanks to those of you who made it wonderful. We received lovely gifts and spent most of the day with friends eating too much delicious food. Or am I just speaking for myself? The best part of the day was probably Thomas discovering what Santa Claus brought him, and dancing along with it. We will be adding a video of that really soon so stay tuned! We were happy to be able to speak with family, especially Paige's brother who is a missionary in Indiana. Yippee! He is doing really well, and has 6 months left until he comes home. We love you all!

The Snow Had Fallen All Day Long

Okay, so on Christmas Eve we started a new family tradition where we each wrote a line of a poem and we went around in circles until we found some kind of ending. We plan to compile them and share them again as a family each year. Hopefully this will work out to be fun in the future. This Christmas Eve it was John, Paige and Paige's cousin Matt. Here goes: The Snow Had Fallen All Day Long The snow had fallen all day long So I put on my thermal Christmas thong I had to stay warm just in case I was thrown out of the house on my face. I went out driving to find a place to stay Because I was thrown out anyway My mom did not approve at all because I bought inappropriate gifts at the mall I walked through the snow to take them all back When I saw an old man with a huge scarlet sack. I stopped to help because his sleigh had broken down He paid me in presents and drove me across town. After many deliveries we landed on my roof As we fell down the chimney, Santa went, "Oof!" I...

Ode Tannenbaum

Ode Tannenbaum You are so fluffly and green my little piny friend You withstand the poking and prodding of little hands Ornaments hang from loyal wiry branches Shining and sparkling traditional trinkets. Snowmen, Santas, and Nativities turn gently on the branches in the colorful glow. A soft forest aroma wafts subtly through rooms where Yuletide decor is sparsely and carefully scattered You share memories of snow capped mountains small furry animals and monstrous fur trees that line rural landscapes and paint silhouettes on the horizon. Oh Christmas tree, thank you for your memories.

Good Morning

Mom Grouchy + Tired + Baby Grouchy + Tired = not happy morning. So somehow my darling baby was awakened by something/someone not in particular this morning while he was getting ready for work. And last night I was thinking this would be the perfect opportunity to sleep in, because he was so tired and it was so late, and he was sleeping like a little angel. Instead of waking up at 5 it was almost 6 when he woke up for his breakfast, and then went back to sleep . . . only to be aroused from his snoozing an hour later. And why am I so bleary-eyed and dizzy? Yeah. Not cool. I feel like I have a hang-over from too much cheese and crackers last night. So I made oatmeal and the munchkin practiced throwing his body around on the floor like a 2 year old, and screaming and then I fed him. Some good baby-friendly music helped a bit, and then we went in the living room, and he began insisting that his first word is tee or gee. He loves the Christmas tree! I read him a nursery rhyme book ...

Let it Snow?

In which Thomas has an adventure in the snow. After convincing me that pictures of T bird amidst descending flakes are a must, I bundled up junior and put on my big girl boots. T bird wasn't as surprised as I expected him to be, surprise! But he was quickly enamored by his winter wonderland. He pointed at snowflakes, ate clumps of snow, walked bravely down the sidewalk in too-big-boots, and then when he had completed his quest of discovery he walked up the driveway, climbed onto the porch directly to the front door, got down on his knees and slapped the house and called, "Dad. Dad." As if to say, "Okay, Dad c'mon on down and open this door I'm ready to come in." And then when I brought him in he began protesting adamantly enough for me to clearly understand he didn't want Dad to let him in, he wanted Dad to come on out and play too. Alas, Mr. Working Student was at work and couldn't save the day. Or the moment. So we ate taco soup instea...

Merry December

Hello everyone, and welcome to December. Mr. Wilson is working all day on a busy crazy project that he will do amazingly well on. T bird is walking around (yes, he still looks like a zombie) and he's practicing his carols on the Piano. Supermom is being supermom on an almost daily basis. Don't worry about the Christmas tree, T bird is nervous to get his wings caught in it, so he's maintaining his distance. Lucky Tannenbaum.
