To Grandmother's House We Go

Who could ask for younger or prouder grandparents? Thomas is adorable, and we have enjoyed the holidays with Paige's family. The grandparents and great grandparents loved watching Thomas' Frankenstein/zombie walk through the house with his arms above his head and side to side swaying. Here is our gratitude entry: We are grateful for: Thomas heat baby food in a jar my sisters parents gerber daisies the sun my brother friends good advice pie trust airplanes wind smiles apples children kisses our home our cars not breaking down for so long temples pizza rainy days good food mashed potatoes flowers internet passports toothpaste bar soap deoderant boyfriends giggles chocolate bananas neighbors grass pretty leaves pianos neighborhood turkey bowls naps

i feel like we should be saying something about november. ode to november i feel you all around me, in my hair and skin and eyes your crinkly dryness breaks beneath my feet. your bright morning light breaks in through the glass hauntingly deceitful, spreading the pretense that you are a warmer day. your short dark evenings pass over while i huddle and cuddle beneath warm blankets sipping thick chocolate. you are bitter in your breath as you blow the faces off the trees but i refuse to see you that way. you inspire sweet cider candles and we will not stop baking apple pies you cannot scare me out of my holidays with your howling and growling and beating against the windows the harsh frigid air may blow in but the heater battles on and on and on and soon it will be december but for now i feel you all around me november.
