I am so excited for Christmas!  I can't wait to see my family, finally share my gifts with the boys, and do all the traditional Christmas celebration activities we have planned.  Mostly Christmas Eve at my Grandparent's and singing and foods and homemade English Toffee.  My Dad has been whipping up some wonderful little toys for that we have found ideas for online, or come up with ourselves, and it will be great to see them in person.  For now I still have lots of secrets under wraps but I will post them on the blog as soon as I can because I want so much to share them with you! Although I tried to wait until Christmas and almost made it, we are now announcing that we are expecting a little girl at the beginning of May next year! The ultrasound was Friday and needless to say it was a fun day for all of us.  The boys loved the amazing midwife's office and toys, I loved the tech that kept saying "bomb" as in "April is bomb!" (to have a baby) and the midwives were hilarious and sweet.  They are a duo and remind me of my favorite qualities of humans in general and midwives in particular.  Of course our favorite thing was seeing that our baby girl is healthy and growing and that she really is a girl-phew! This blog is taking a new direction!  I'm always coming up with little ideas that don't seem to have a place anywhere.  That is, until today!  I haven't had blogging energy lately (for years?) and I'm hoping this will change it up a bit. To start out, here are some of my favorite books to read for enjoyment.  When I was at BYU I went to a book talk with Shannon Hale, and she discussed the importance in reading for fun and not just to get all the classics under your belt or something.  Since more than one book is published daily it's impossible to read everything or every good thing, so you might as well read what you want and read something good.  I know you might be thinking how is a book list a tip?  But seriously, who's not looking for a good book to read? We finally made it to our new home and unpacked.  Sadly, everything isn't perfectly organized and pottery-barn looking, but the boxes are gone, the boys are sleeping through the night again, and we have passes to the local park and zoo. I have been going out-of-my-mind crazy lately not doing any projects, sewing or otherwise and feeling like a pent-up volcano about to explode since I haven't broken out my sewing machine.  Last night I couldn't sleep and I organized my fabric like a new mom folding and refolding her baby clothes in anticipation of her little one's arrival.  I thought over each piece and the dreams I have for them.  I usually spend about two months scheming and then a month actually working on projects, some so tiny like sewing buttons back on a jacket, or hemming some shorts, and then creating something from my imagination that works or is a complete flop.  Creating is exhilarating, isn't it? Sometimes that's what I want to hear, I don't have to fix or change the world, just myself! Today was a big day. Spencer learned to jump for the first time! Only 18 months later than Thomas when he learned, so I'm even more proud of him and grateful that he's not as challenged as I thought.  Just kidding, he's really smart and sweet and obstinate but just not good at talking or jumping.  Or water.
