Having an Opportunity (Overheard by Thomas)

From one Car to Another: Hey, we are having an opportunity.  Are we the Wicked or the Righteous? The Righteous. We will worship Jesus. Yes. We will read the Holy Spirit of Jesus. Then we will be righteous. You are right in my way. We are having an opportunity! photo courtesy of http://dailyderbi.com/hot-wheels-trivia-2-easiest-round-ever/ From an interview with Thomas: Their names are Towtruck and Meshach. They are good people. They love each other. The End.

Weigh In

So John and I are buying a scale.  My parents have one.  Lots of people have them.  I have never had one.  But the day has come!  I realized the other day when I was being weighted at the chiropractor that I am still gaining weight even though I'm not pregnant!  No wonder I felt better when I was nine months pregnant!  The first thing I ate today was a chocolate chip cookie.  Even I must admit that's probably a clue. My back has been hurting since I was pregnant and I finally got up the guts to go see a chiropractor- yes I was scared.  It isn't so bad!  Now I'm trying to get my back to stay where it's supposed to be.  When it gets misaligned my sacrum tilts in and my left leg feels like it's longer than my right.  I'm learning all these new good things.  So hopefully I will get my back in shape and then get back in shape!  I don't care too much about being in great shape but two things are inspiring me.  1- My ...

Spencer

So you-know-who is about to turn 2 and I don't mean Voldemort!  I can't believe he's not two already, but on the same hand I can't believe this day is actually coming for real!  My sweet cuddle bug is screaming and refusing to follow directions so you know he's two.  He can't say no but he can say Jdyes so anytime he hears someone say no he quickly argues YES, even just for the sake of argumentation.  He says "nnn" for "no," I hope  I'm not deeply diabolical to get a kick out of hearing Thomas and Spencer go back and forth,  nnnn.  yes.  nnn.  yes.  nnnnnn.  YES.  NNNNNNN.  YEEEEEEEEESSSSS! MOM!  We are getting ready by baking a cake, finishing touches on a little sewing project for my Super Spencer, and buying wrapping paper. Did I mention it's a train cake?  How many train cakes will I make in my life, I do not know but this one is a diesel passenger train as compared with Thomas' s...

Catching Up on Pictures

Before Luke was born I took a bunch of pictures intending to blog about certain events and the family in general.  I'm just getting around to them.  I really need to get a basketball and see if it looks the same under my shirt as a baby . . . Here are the shorts I made for Thomas out of John's old dress shirt he used to wear to dances over a decade ago.  As you can see Thomas takes off when I start shooting. Here we are a couple days before Luke was born.  Happy Fourth of July!  And below after all three of them woke up from naptime and I gathered them on my bed for cuddling and pictures:

To Remember About My Children

Today while playing with playdough Thomas got really upset that he didn't have anymore playdough and that I wouldn't just give him Spencer's.  He sat on the floor and cried and was very sad and getting frustrated.  I sat on the floor with him and held him- I felt bad that he was so sad.  Spencer came over and started pulling big chunks of his own playdough away and handing it to Thomas until he had given almost half of it to Thomas.  I praised him and he giggled with joy.  Spencer is such a sweet and loving child. Luke woke up and started crying.  Thomas yelled, "I'm going to go rescue him!"  And he ran up to the bed and started singing to him and talking and at first it wasn't calming the baby until he started really sing-song music.  It was up down up down teeter totter music.  Then he got down to run and get a toy and Luke cried while he was gone (!) and Thomas ran as fast as he could and Luke settled down when he got back...
The weirdest thing happened today; John pointed out that Luke looks identical to baby Thomas.  Consequently, I've spent the evening looking at baby Thomas pictures.  Two things to say about that. 1.  I actually do have baby pictures of Thomas. 2. Thomas was indeed one cute baby.

Wilson News

As National Sewing Month wraps up the Wilson family has been singing, blogging, sewing, and visiting with family.  Read on for the latest. I read today that September is National Sewing Month.  Maybe that will inspire me.  Actually I think it will have no effect at all but I'm excited about my numerous sewing projects.  Unfortunately one is top-secret for my sister.  Boo because I love secrets but I want to post pictures and tell blogland all about it. Tonight Thomas sang, "Row, row, row your boat softly down the stream, merrily Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow."  At times John and I look at each other and wonder where he gets it.  So many of the things he says, or sings as the case may be, seem to be repeating nursery leaders or other adults and he does have a good memory so that could very well be the case but it's impossible to tell.  Tonight he said Daddy taught him this song so he's not a reliable source of truth on the matte...
