More Thomas Quotes

In order to build cars, you need lots of materials.  You need fire matches; all cars have fires in them to make them go.  Jobe wood is the strongest wood- fire can't break it.  It's from Hiro's island. I made myself a doctor and so I make everyone in my family feel good inside their bodies. Mommy- you make me in-ter-est-able.  Thank you.

Beach Boys and California Girls

We finally made it to our new home and unpacked.  Sadly, everything isn't perfectly organized and pottery-barn looking, but the boxes are gone, the boys are sleeping through the night again, and we have passes to the local park and zoo. I have been going out-of-my-mind crazy lately not doing any projects, sewing or otherwise and feeling like a pent-up volcano about to explode since I haven't broken out my sewing machine.  Last night I couldn't sleep and I organized my fabric like a new mom folding and refolding her baby clothes in anticipation of her little one's arrival.  I thought over each piece and the dreams I have for them.  I usually spend about two months scheming and then a month actually working on projects, some so tiny like sewing buttons back on a jacket, or hemming some shorts, and then creating something from my imagination that works or is a complete flop.  Creating is exhilarating, isn't it? Our Big Day

As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world . . . as in being able to remake ourselves. Mahatma Gandhi I heard that quote today and I love it! Sometimes that's what I want to hear, I don't have to fix or change the world, just myself! Today was a big day. Spencer learned to jump for the first time! Only 18 months later than Thomas when he learned, so I'm even more proud of him and grateful that he's not as challenged as I thought.  Just kidding, he's really smart and sweet and obstinate but just not good at talking or jumping.  Or water. He cracks me up when he says "wonk" for want. Yick, and yocks are shirt and socks. He can't say s or l or r, or g, or ch, and the list goes on and on... So many words are the exact same from him, poor guy. He's always saying done as in again, all done, come, I came, etc. Although Luke can walk, he can't quite figure out that crawling is supposed to be ...
For Behold, it is easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land. Alma 37:44 I liked this scripture today.  It's easy to listen to the word of Christ, we shouldn't complicate it.  Destination?  Eternal Bliss.

My Beloved Monster and Me at 11 Months

Luke looks like a little ogre to me in this picture.  I occasionally call him jaws on account of his nine teeth.  Yesterday Thomas had a play date so I took my big little boys to the park for a minute before lunch.  Since I took this picture on my phone and the delay made for an interesting action shot.  He looks a million time more handsome and less creepy now that I shaved his mullet off. Luke is now walking a few steps at a time, just between Mommy and Daddy.  He's not brave enough to venture into the great wide open without something to hold onto; a couch, a wall, a brother's hand all do the trick. Luke loves any attention and is all smiles for Daddy when he is around.  He even says Da-da for him, too.  He also says Ma-ma-ma, and my favorite uh-uh when something falls, instead of uh-oh.  Sometimes he signs more and water. He loves his brothers and their roughhousing.  He is brave and impetuous.  We love to see him...

Dr. Suess and Family

http://www.catinthehat.org/history.htm When Thomas asked me if Dr. Seuss had kids right out of the blue today I thought probably, right?  I don't know.  So I asked Thomas what he thought and he said yes.  He continued, "I think he had kids and they drew the pictures.  He added that Mrs. Dr. Seuss probably helped as well. Well I looked him up and Dr. Seuss's wife was unable to have children.  He actually made some up!  Chrysanthemum-Pearl is one of them for whom he dedicated a book, To Think That I Saw it on Mulberry Street.  I was also surprised to learn that one year for Christmas he and his wife Helen took a picture with the neighbor kids and sent it to friends and family as their "kiddies."  I guess you learn something new everyday.
